From Out of Darkness
It's a lonely place to stay
when nobody seems to stay
It's a lonely place to be
when nobody seems to see
Your trophies and victories
Who is there to share your memories?
What if we never face our fears?
What if we never reach out?
What if we remain the same?
What if life stays the same?
I remember writing a poem
A poem of change and of choice
I remember writing a poem
Facing fear and reaching out
I remember writing a song
I'm falling
I remember writing a song
Piece of Heaven
I ask, "Is it worth it and do I want it?"
I ask, "Can I receive and do I believe?"
If we never face our fears and never reach out
If we remain the same and life stays the same
If only, If only, If only; Vanity, Vanity, Vanity
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life,"
Jesus said, "I came that they might have life,"
Jesus said, "the least you do to the least of these you do to me,"
I ask, "Do you love me?"
I ask, "Can I be at your table?"

It would be interesting to see what people think?
What comes to mind when you read this poem?
The interesting thing about poetry is that often times there are multiple messages within a poem. And so, one person may see a person marginalized by society learning to break free from the pain of rejection. There is also another message here that perhaps might not be readily seen.
In my own personal journey I found that the way I viewed the church had to change just as much as the church needed to change their view of "the marginalized", and I can so readily identify with how it feels to be sitting on the margins of society.
I wrote this poem as I began to see God's heart for the church. The idea where perhaps one day,the church will become a place where marginalization is not an issue. Where people can come and join in a fellowship where everyone has everything in common. At least, where everyone knows that as Christians we are all on the same journey.
A journey of being transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ.
